In terms of subbed downloads, it’s actually one of the topics that I plan to write about in here. I’ve been working on AMNOS.net a lot as of late that I haven’t even have the time to write frequently here anymore, but I haven’t forgotten.

LOL… “ARASHI (membername) ‘Wife’ Association”, huh? Why do I get the feeling that we must have joined the same forum? I joined a few forums awhile that has that all around. Back in the early fandom days (2002-2006) there wasn’t such thing as those. Even until now I’m still quite appalled at all these “trends” going on within the Arashi fandom today… all the flailing and the obsessing and the spazzing…

I joined a local forum before, but I felt alienated because I didn’t understand their way of fangirling, like making (Arashi member)’s Wife Association or similar things .

If you have time, I want to know your opinion about how hard to get subbed downloads nowadays, since many communities require some conditions to enable fans to get the downloads.

Some of them are trying to exist in fandom even by stealing and reposting translations claimed to be their own works. The others just hate older fans who know more than them.

You know, I’ve had a few “haters” (actually I have about…. 1? LOL XD) who thought I was conceited to write something like this on my own blog. But sadly, stealing other peoples’ original content and translations without credit is very common in any fandom if you think about it. There were a lot of “good” fans and informative ones in the past (before I went on a hiatus), but now most of them have given up or moved on or simply just enjoying their fandom their own way. I don’t blame them. I’m very close to that route myself.

But there is also a tendency of elitism where some “senior” fans ignored and berate newer fans.

Well, I’m a returning fan, and in a way, for those “senior” fans (those who only learned about Arashi for like… I dunno… after 2006 with the whole “Jun-Bait”/HYD period?) they seem to consider “returning fans” (the “outdated” ones, in other words) as “newbie” fans too. I joined an Arashi forum that was only about 2-yrs-old and a lot of the people in there treated me like a total noob in there and when I complained, they say that I’m the only one who felt that way. Whatever. I quit going over there and pretty much steering away from forums right now.

I’m currently rebuilding my old ARASHI fansite (AMNOSnet) right now. Still need to add more content in there but I’d like to present ARASHI to the masses my own way. No gimmicks, no fluff, no excessive fangirling (seriously, who on earth would care about the site owner’s fangirlism in a supposed “informative” fansite?), just keeping it real, you know?

A friend of mine who is an Arashi fan from 1999 just decided to resign from fandom and enjoy Arashi by herself.

I don’t blame your friend. I would probably have done the same too, but I decided to take the “returning” route in hopes of having these obnoxious, self-conceited “newer” obsessive fans SCHOOLED.

Well, this isn’t targeting anyone in particular, but it’s both a general entry/listing of what a typical (male J-)idol fan girl is like. It’s not just based on observation of others, but many of them are derived from all the “fangirling” habits that I used to go through several years ago. It’s kind of like a “reflection” of who I was as a fan and it can also be a “reflection” for other fans too. Sadly though, not everyone took this entry lightly as I’ve had *some* “hate” comments from other fangirls as of late how I need to”get a life” than to “hate” on fangirls in general… I don’t get it… if not having a job and spending time with family and friends most of my time while participating in the church choir and other volunteer work in the community isn’t considered “having a life,” then I don’t know what it is.

But I can assure you… many of the stuff I wrote in the “list” may be outrageous and simply unbelievable (heck, even I can’t believe it myself), but sadly, they do exist.

Stealing others’ works, meaning the fanworks? (ie. fanart, graphics, fanfics, etc.?) Fanart and fanfics, that I can understand. Graphics is somewhat of a different matter. JE actually had their idols’ photographs (from magazines and CDs and other print media paraphernelia) become prohibited from being used in fanworks or even be posted on the web. Even their own official sites don’t even have images of them. They get nitpicky with the “copyright” issues with those images, which is ridiculous if you ask me. They treat their idols as their “assets and properties”, so they’re more like their “products” rather than their “clients.” Know where I’m getting at?
