GOBBLE-dygook Hodgepodge
First up to the peeps of the U.S. of A, I want to wish all of you a HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
Second, to the peeps of the AMNOS tribe, let’s all greet the O a (belated) Happy 29th Birthday!
Third, Monday is the last day of NaNoWriMo! Though I already won the challenge, my story is not yet finished! I hoped to finish everything by that day so I can finally rest and move on.
Fourth, TFL approved my application for the Samurai High School Fanlisting! Once after my novel is done I am seriously gonna get down and dirty in building this site. I may make it in to a mini-informational site, so watch out! The more I’m seeing this series episode by episode, the more I feel like I’m getting PWNED. It’s not because of the SURF DUDE or the Senorito, but the overall storyline is really well worth watching. I love the characters— all of them— including the self-centered cop and the bitchy principal.
Fifth, the menu for our Thanksgiving Dinner would be the gobble-gobble bird, stuffing, mashed potatoes, daing na bangus, pancit, lumpia, sinigang, pinakbet, rice, and pumpkin pie and more various Filipino desserts for dessert. Now that’s what I call Filipino-fusion style Thanksgiving!
Sixth, the folks are here. Time for me to sign off.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING! BE THANKFUL FOR WHAT YOU’VE GOT and not moan in sadness for what you don’t have.
Birthday Hodgepodge Entry
I wrote my first Hodgepodge entry on my VOX account (and also generated on LJ too since hardly anyone goes to my LJ) as first of my Hodgepodge series. Basically, Hodgepodge is sorta like an unlimited version of Twitter, Tumblr, or any other microblogging systems. The only thing is, I post them up manually.
Birthday Hodgepodge #1: Co-workers @ the legendary denim jeans station gave me a suggestion to have my birthday lunch at Butterfly. What I love about this restaurant is that it’s a complete Asian fusion with each other, so most of the dishes on the menu are Asian dish-influenced. Despite of the fancy and scrumptious-looking dishes for their lunch menu, Kobe Beef Burger attracted me the most. It was seriously delicious and DANG off da hook! Of course, maybe not as tasty as the original steak-version of the Kobe Beef but still… it’s Kobe Beef! Before that, I had Fire Fried Calamari for my appetizer dish and a Virgin Mojito. What? You think I’m gonna be going back to work all drunk?
Birthday Hodgepodge #2: San Francisco is the capital city of the LBGT community, so there are a lot of same-sex couples there. They are in their own culture and in their own world, but they are indeed good people. I ended up having short conversations with a gay couple (male) about Asian cuisine in general. They ended up talking to me because I’m Asian and all. I don’t mind because they’re interested.
Birthday Hodgepodge #3: Sometime during my enjoyment time with my Kobe Beef Burger, a rather young Asian couple just walked in and was assigned the table next to mine. The guy had straight-out bleach blond hair and the girl had long, straight black hair. When they walked in, their aura seriously reminded me of something familiar. Then I realized: サンフランシースコの「恋空」??! They came in holding hands and they had these really cute, adoring faces. However their skin looked so pale white that it’d make you ponder if they just woke up from the dead or something. Many of the people near our area were basically gawking and “aww”-ing and flailing at them because they just looked too darn cute together. Even the gay couple next to my table were smiling happily for them. They both said in a whisper: “Ah, young love.”
Birthday Hodgepodge #4: At home, I got about $200 worth of personal checks from the family (yes, I’m a charity case
) and two gift cards from Target and Barnes & Noble. But the best part of the birthday dinner was that we were all at home together as a family, having a nice and quiet and relaxing dinner. Noodles (Pancit Bihon) included for a guaranteed long life.
Birthday Hodgepodge #5: Got a call from the data recovery experts at the local computer repair shop. My data from that good-riddens ext. HD has been saved. I’m picking up my new HD on Friday along with the recovered data. Now I am truly happy. In the end, I’m writing this hodgepodge blog entry.
That’s all for my birthday. This is just the beginning. The best part is probably this weekend or the weekend after. Whee.
Sweet September 2009
For those who live in the Western Hemisphere as well as Japan and Korea, all the kids head back to school (though some even go back to school at late August?).
But for some of us, I look forward to a Sweet September. It marks the the end of summer, literally, and in to the cooler, slightly gloomier season. It also marks somewhat a beginning for us as well. For one thing, my mother’s birthday is coming up on the 16th. Though it’s not that important to many of you, any person’s birthday regardless whether you know that person or not personally is still an important event. It just marks another year of that person living to this very earth.
BIRTHDAY COMMENTARY: Too “Old” for Something “Young”?
A lot of people make a big deal of it. Some people don’t even celebrate them. But regardless of what everyone thinks about that day, everyday is an individual’s birthday.
So today, 10/14/2008, reminds me that I am now a year older than yesterday. It’s one of those days where I start to ask myself whether I’m “too old” for my hobbies. On the other hand, I don’t think that there is such thing as being “too old” for anything. Anything and everything designed for a specific target audience from age 0 to 100+ were all created by adults anyway.
Welcome to ADRIATASTIC!, a writing station where you'll probably do nothing but to read a lot of stuff and occasionally write something in response. Well, regarding Lent, it’s just one of the things that I decided to write about. I wouldn’t...
I think I should post something about Lent, too. It IS an important season in the country… BTW, I think...
interesting… Now I remember that one of my initial purposes in having a blog was to practice my grammar...
Yup. Sei Shonagon lived from around 930 BC till her deat in the early 1100s, so I would probably estimate...
That’s quite interesting. It’s kinda neat to think someone “blogged” way back then....
